Good afternoon dear reader,
Once again I make myself known to you with truly unfortunate news. Once again it is my duty to sadly summarize the events of a shooting that has further skewed our country into chaos.
On the 18th of this month, one Brandon Hole opened fire on a FedEx packaging facility near the state airport. Upon opening fire, the gunman (to the best of police knowledge) targeted members of the facility that were of the Sikh religion. After successfully killing 8 people and injuring several others, in a matter of minutes, Hole turned the gun on himself, bringing the short but terrifying incident to a close.
Not much is known about the motive of Mr. Hole, however, through previous police investigations into Mr. Hole, a general hypothesis can be surmised. A former employee at the facility, Brandon Hole, aged 19 had been, at the time of the shooting, already known to both the FBI and the local police department. He had been brought to their attention in March of 2020, when his mother telephoned the police stating that her son had parched as shotgun, and was going to attempt suicide by cop. The police subsequently detained Mr. Hole and his weapon, inducting him into a mental facility. Due to the nature of the crime, the FBI was involved, and performed a search of his computer, which at the time of his arrest, Mr. Hole persisted that someone turned off the device as “I don't want anyone seeing what's on there”. Upon review, it was noted that several extremist groups had been viewed by the defendant, however, none of them violated any laws, and with a clean general bill of health, Mr. Hole was released albeit, without his firearm.
It is at this point that neither future of us, nor any other news and information centers can clearly give a motive, however it is currently believed by law enforcement that the attack was brought on by the ideology of white supremacy, making this shooting one of over 50 that has occurred since the Atlanta-area spa shootings early this year.
Unfortunately, dear reader, I am unable to give an idea of resolve, as I would only be repeating myself from previous articles, along with resolves that have been given by my fellow writers. I can only offer hope. It is at this point that I will draw your attention to the verified GoFundMe campaign for the families of the victims set up by the National Compassion Fund has raised more than $1 million, with FedEx donating $1 million. The fund said 100% of the donations "will go to the families and those affected by the tragedy." It is at this point, all we can do for the grieving families.
Dear Reader. I am simply a writer to you. To me you are my readers, however, we can both agree that in the wake of this target, we must now focus more on the problem at hand of shootings in this country. We are the voice of tomorrow, and it is our duty to make tomorrow better.
As always, I will leave you with the question: There is always the possibility of a better future. What can you do to make it a reality?
