glaring into the mirror
frantically wondering how to fix
those scars
tiger stripes
red bumps across the skin
less weight on the scale
dark under eye bags
whatever we convinced ourself was making us
ugly
without realizing the true ugly
stood right within our own hatred
eyes staring
thumbs scrolling
miles and miles
on a screen with a smile
telling us those things we hate about ourselves
is so beautiful
that we should acknowledge these things as our beauty
but we can’t be beautiful all the time, can we?
one thing we are all the time: human.
those things you hate about your face
your body
makes you human
every action every feeling every little mark on your skin
so purely human
people who interest our brains
and hearts
we know they’re not beautiful all the time
but they’re just as alluring
treat yourself like someone you fall in love with
like those plants you water everyday
knowing they’ll grow into something
with great purpose
the shape of the plant is of no interest to us
the packed power is what we care for
so stop beating yourself up over something
that is just a sign of your process
remnants of all your struggle, triumph, journeys, stories
all those “imperfections”
are making you who you are today
so why not be proud?
this poem is so beautiful! i love your style of writing so much
